WHAT SHOULD SCHOOL TEACH?

Imagen
Currently the educational programme is outdated and no longer covers basic needs. With traditional teaching methods young people are not prepared for adulthood. They do not know how to write a CV, find a job, or market themselves effectively. That is why we should start thinking about a change. Observing the contemporary world I realised that soft skills are essential for finding employment  and getting involved in society. Schools should focus on teamwork, preparation of presentations, writing texts, and methods to captivate people's attention. I can confidently say that these lessons will be useful for everyone, to be a good parent, a partner, a boss or an employee. But being an expert in your field and being capable of convincing people and explaining yourself is not enough to achieve a stable adult life. With inflation and the unexpected rapid global changes  we must learn how to manage and increase our savings. In spite of having high incomes, if we do not learn ho...

“To what extent does the language we speak shape our perception of the world?

Imagen
Having watched a TED talk trying to answer the question "Does language shape our perception of the world?" made me analyse how our brain works and observe that little details make a huge difference. First of all, I must insure that the language is involved with our thought, and, you may be asking, why can I be so assured about it? Here I will give two examples to argument this posture. One explenation is the comparation with an austrialian community called Kook Thaayorre. The society is characterized by a different culture, that is why they have their own language which for example, instead of using the words right and left to get oriented, they aply another vocabulary that it is based on the use of cardanial directions. This way provide a better orientation and have the ability of get located oneself in a space. Another example is the russians, in this language they name blue and light blue differnt, that makes them categorize this colours easier than english people, becaus...

Imagen
In modern times, the educational system has changed. The variety of careers at university has increased, and furthermore, students are able to study remotely because of the development of technology. But is this new way of teaching efficient? Online classes have allowed people to study careers that are not available in the place where they live. Sometimes, because of economic issues, they cannot choose the career of their dreams, but long-distance classes have opened a new door full of possibilities and opportunities. One negative aspect is that, since you don’t meet your classmates in person, making friends and getting to know each other is more challenging. It isn’t impossible, but it will be harder to meet face-to-face. In online classes, you might have classmates from all over the world. On the other hand, in face-to-face classes, you are constantly talking to and meeting new people, so it is easier to create bonds. However, you probably won’t have classmates from other countries. ...
