THE MAN INTERVIEW

Hello there!

Some days ago, my teacher sent me an audio talking about something frightening that happened to a man, so I will share this short story with you.


This man had a job interview after six o'clock in a flat, and consequently, a lot of people had already left. The interview was on the twenty-seventh floor, which you must reach by a lift. So, he got in it, but it started to go down. After a few seconds, it stopped, and now he was stuck between two floors!

The man tried to ask for help. He pushed the emergency button and used a phone that he found there, but it didn’t work. He couldn’t be noticed by anyone; therefore, he panicked and screamed.

He had to wait for four hours until people realized that he was there!

ONLINE CLASSES VS FACE TO FACE CLASSES

In modern times, the educational system has changed. The variety of careers at university has increased, and furthermore, students are able to study remotely because of the development of technology. But is this new way of teaching efficient? Online classes have allowed people to study careers that are not available in the place where they live. Sometimes, because of economic issues, they cannot choose the career of their dreams, but long-distance classes have opened a new door full of possibilities and opportunities. One negative aspect is that, since you don’t meet your classmates in person, making friends and getting to know each other is more challenging. It isn’t impossible, but it will be harder to meet face-to-face. In online classes, you might have classmates from all over the world. On the other hand, in face-to-face classes, you are constantly talking to and meeting new people, so it is easier to create bonds. “To what extent does the language we speak shape our perception of the world?

 Having watched a TED talk trying to answer the question "Does language shape our perception of the world?" made me analyse how our brain works and observe that little details make a huge difference. First of all, I must insure that the language is involved with our thought, and, you may be asking, why can I be so assured about it? Here I will give two examples to argument this posture. One explenation is the comparation with an austrialian community called Kook Thaayorre. The society is characterized by a different culture, that is why they have their own language which for example, instead of using the words right and left to get oriented, they aply another vocabulary that it is based on the use of cardanial directions. This way provide a better orientation and have the ability of get located oneself in a space.
