DOES TECHNOLOGY MAKE HUMANS LESS INTELLIGENTS?


The use of technology is increasing quickly, and it is a fundamental tool for our daily lives. In fact, it is everywhere, such as in communication, educational institutions, medicine, entertainment, art, and more. This is impressive, but are you aware of its benefits and drawbacks? 

 First of all, if we use technology intelligently, it allows people to solve tasks and situations that they previously weren’t able to handle. It is an exceptional tool for adults because they can outsource assignments; as a consequence, they can use their time to take care of other duties. So, in this situation, it doesn't make people less intelligent.

 On the other hand, excessive use can produce a dependence on it. For example, nowadays, children ask AI for all the answers; they´ve stopped using their imagination and look for fast and easy solutions. This is terrible because technology can be used productively. They could ask AI for activities, solve them in their notebooks, and finally ask for corrections. It would be like having a teacher all the time.

 In summary, technology won’t stop; that’s why we should embrace and learn how to use it correctly. By finding a balance between its advantages and potential drawbacks, we can make the most of its benefits while minimizing its negative effects."

ONLINE CLASSES VS FACE TO FACE CLASSES

In modern times, the educational system has changed. The variety of careers at university has increased, and furthermore, students are able to study remotely because of the development of technology. But is this new way of teaching efficient? Online classes have allowed people to study careers that are not available in the place where they live. Sometimes, because of economic issues, they cannot choose the career of their dreams, but long-distance classes have opened a new door full of possibilities and opportunities. One negative aspect is that, since you don’t meet your classmates in person, making friends and getting to know each other is more challenging. It isn’t impossible, but it will be harder to meet face-to-face. In online classes, you might have classmates from all over the world. On the other hand, in face-to-face classes, you are constantly talking to and meeting new people, so it is easier to create bonds. “To what extent does the language we speak shape our perception of the world?

 Having watched a TED talk trying to answer the question "Does language shape our perception of the world?" made me analyse how our brain works and observe that little details make a huge difference. First of all, I must insure that the language is involved with our thought, and, you may be asking, why can I be so assured about it? Here I will give two examples to argument this posture. One explenation is the comparation with an austrialian community called Kook Thaayorre. The society is characterized by a different culture, that is why they have their own language which for example, instead of using the words right and left to get oriented, they aply another vocabulary that it is based on the use of cardanial directions. This way provide a better orientation and have the ability of get located oneself in a space.
